Opportunity for Everyone

Every Iowan deserves the dignity and respect to live and work in our great state of Iowa as productive members of our community.

OneiowaAction reported no less than 26 bills introduced at the 2025 legislative session which in some way targets already disenfranchised or marginalized Iowans. Some of these bills also included threats to our educational system and our libraries, interference with parental autonomy, and one proposed criminalizing homelessness.

In February, Iowa became first in the nation to remove gender identity from the Iowa Civil Rights Act (which had been in effect since 2007) with language that enshrines "separate but equal." This made national news.

Iowa needs to find its way back to focusing on the real challenges before us, like attraction and retention of young people and professionals, creating a strong robust economy, being a leader in education and doing what Iowans do best, creating community and caring for our friends and neighbors.

Legislating exclusion is not the Iowa I believe in. At a minimum, I challenge all voters, how much of your taxpayer dollars do you want spent on advocating these bills? We have bigger fish to fry folks!
