Bolstering the Economy
Bolstering the Economy
Rural economies are struggling. In Southeast Iowa we have seen the exodus of lucrative manufacturing and other industries, without adequate replacement businesses. Job opportunities must be attracted and retained.
U.S. News and World Report lists Iowa as 44th in the nation as far as overall economy and 49th in terms of economic growth for 2025. This is a trend that cannot continue. While economic growth is a multi-faceted issue, it demands the time and attention of the legislature to find solutions.
It is of vital importance that we return Iowa to a place known for being "a great place to raise a family." Where people are drawn to our great schools, friendly safe environment ("Iowa Nice") and general overall good quality of life. Our economic future is linked to other areas of my focus.
